The cohort includes people with Parkinson’s disease, atypical parkinsonism, and healthy controls, who have their state of health regularly monitored by specialists over many years. The participants donate samples of body fluids such as blood or urine. They also take part in clinical examinations that analyze movement sequences and test their attention, memory, vision, speech, and sense of smell.

PEI HUVEC-characterization study
Within a broad characterization study, we analyzed activation, viability, cytokine secretion, and permeability of human umbilical vein endothelial cells (HUVECs) upon stimulation with different stimuli. In addition HUVEC-permeability was analyzed in a trans-well-based leakage assay upon stimulation in presence or absence of human peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs).
